A Travel Guide To Chaweng Beach – Koh Samui Thailand
Chaweng Beach and its main town center in Koh Samui in Thailand is without a doubt, the most popular area among tourists visiting the Island. The town and beach are situated on the north east side of the island, with the vast majority of the population living in and around the town of Chaweng.
This is a beautiful 7 kilometre stretch of sandy beach accompanied by hotels, bars and restaurants. This is definitely the favorite place to stay for many visitors, especially those who enjoy the nightlife.
Check out this video offering a glimpse of this lovely island and Chaweng.

Chaweng is an excellent long sandy beach for swimming, sun tanning and other water sports and beach activities. It’s a nice relaxing atmosphere during the daytime, but comes alive at night!
Chaweng Beach Comes Alive After Dark
The town center is lined on both sides with shops, restaurants, food vendors, bars, hotels and much more. All to keep most everyone happy during the daytime and in the evening hours.
So much so, that the main strip in town exceeds 3 kilometres!
If your holiday plans include living it up at night, then Chaweng is the right place for you. You can dance the night away in a very busy party atmosphere.
The very popular Soi Green Mango Strip in town is where all the action is. It’s definitely worth experiencing at least once during your stay.
In Thai, ‘Soi’ translates to ‘lane’ and that is basically what this strip is, a side street or long lane in town. Here you will find lines of loud clubs and so called ‘girly bars’ with loud music coming from everywhere!
A very busy and popular place for those that like to party the night away! 😮

A Word Of Caution For Visitors To Chaweng Beach
As with any other place in the world, have fun on your vacation, but do remember to always Travel Safely at all times. Always be aware of your surroundings, try to stay in groups with friends, especially when out at night and in strange places.
We do most often, tend to let our guard down on vacation. specially when over indulging in alcohol.
Unfortunately, this is when we are most vulnerable and easy targets for criminals. Taking a few extra precautions can keep you safe most anywhere you travel.
From hosted weekly beach parties, Thai boxing, to dancing the night away, it is all here in Chaweng on the island of Koh Samui! 😀
Accommodation For All Tastes And Budgets
In town, you can easily find modest and very affordable accommodations to some lovely higher star resorts to suit most every ones taste and budget.
There are some wonderful newer beach front resorts situated directly on Chaweng Beach, but further away from the hustle and bustle of the main town center.
Perfect for those looking for more luxurious accommodations, yet just minutes from the towns many restaurants, shops and bars to explore when so desired.
On our visit, we stayed in a much quieter and peaceful part of the island known as Choeng Mon. Situated on the northern tip, but just a short 15 to 20 minute taxi ride south to the town center of Chaweng.
For us, it was perfect beach!
It’s especially great for those who like a more quiet and relaxed atmosphere and beach. But at the same time, you’re within easy reach to the town center. Be sure to check out my post and photos on beautiful Choeng Mon Beach.
