You can earn 50x Southwest points on Friday in less than a minute. Southwest is celebrating 50 years of flying and is offering 50x points for every dollar spent (up to $100) on Southwest Airline purchases using your Southwest credit card on Friday June 11, 2021.
Registration is not required and anyone with a Southwest card can take advantage of this promotion.
Southwest Credit Cards
You can use any of the five Southwest credit cards to make your purchase and earn 50x Southwest points:
All purchases starting at midnight ET and ending at 11:59 pm on June 11, 2021 will qualify to earn 50 points for every dollar spent.
The maximum points you can earn under this promotion is 5,000 points.
What Purchases Qualify for 50x Points?
There are no restrictions on what purchases qualify for 50x points. You can:
- Book a flight on Southwest
- Buy a Southwest gift card
- Purchase inflight Wi-Fi
- Book a Southwest Vacation package
What Purchases Don’t Qualify
Purchases have to made through Southwest Airlines to qualify for this offer. So while you can earn Southwest points on hotels and car rentals, unless those are booked via vacation package, you won’t earn the 50 points per dollar.
Buying Southwest points don’t qualify for the promotion. Because the transaction is handled by a third party company and not Southwest Airlines.
While you can earn Southwest points with the airline dining program, the transactions are processed by the restaurants so they don’t qualify.
The Rapid Rewards Shopping may or may not qualify. The fine print mentions “Delays by the merchant, such as shipping, could extend the transaction date beyond the offer period.” So this could mean that you might be able to buy something online and earn the bonus. But probably a good idea not to chance it.
What You Should Know
The maximum amount of points per transaction you’ll earn is 50x. This is not in addition to and accounts for any bonus qualifiers.
For example, the Southwest Priority, Southwest Premier, Southwest Plus, and Southwest Premier Business cards earn 2x points per dollar spent on Southwest purchases. With this offer, you’ll earn an additional 48 points for a grand total of 50 points per dollar vs 52 points.
The Southwest Performance Business card earns 3x points per dollar spent on Southwest purchases. So for this promotion, you’ll earn an extra 47 points per dollar for a total of 50 points per dollar vs 53.
Points earned under this offer are Companion Pass qualifying. But aren’t tier qualifying so don’t count towards A-List and A-List Preferred status.
Should You Take This Offer
This is a great deal if you were already planning on booking a Southwest flight or buy Wi-Fi while flying Southwest. After all, it’s 47 to 48x more points than you would have received.
If you don’t have any flights planned, you could book a future flight so that you earn the 50x point. Then later cancel the flight so you have future flight credit.
You can get 50x points (up to 5,000 points) on all purchases through Southwest Airlines on Friday, June 11, 2021. You have to use your Southwest credit card to make the purchase and registration isn’t required.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred is the best card for beginning travel hackers. It is the first card you should get to start traveling for free because the welcome offer is 80,000 points & a $50 statement credit on groceries your first year after spending $4,000 in the first three months.
My favorite perks about this card are earning 2X points on travel and dining, no foreign transaction fees, and transferring points to 13 airline and hotel partners like Hyatt, United, and Southwest.
