As the capital awakens to a smoky winter, days of gloom could be well-lifted with the spirit of Southeast Asian beats as 15 acts from eleven countries will deck the grounds of Purana Quila from 18-20 November 2022. Celebrating 30 years of diplomatic ASEAN-India relations, the Ministry of External Affairs and Seher are bringing the second instalment of the ASEAN Music Festival to New Delhi.
The country’s capital has righteously enjoyed the reputation of being a bubbling cauldron of culture. Right from underground sounds to live experimental music, all year round there’s something for everyone. Starting tomorrow, a raceme of Southeast Asian culture through clustered tunes of new-age jazz, pop, electronic and dance, folk fusion, indie rock, and classical are being brought by artists from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao, PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and India.
On the 18th, Tri Minh’s Quartet from Vietnam, Instamuzika from Malaysia, RizerXSuffer from Cambodia, Empty Wallet from Brunei Darussalam and Papon from India will be showcasing.
The second day brings acts by the Lao Traditional Music Troupe of Lao PDR, Makaohang of Thailand, Faridkot and Amar Jalal from India, Linying Band of Singapore and Jonita Gandhi of India.
The festival climaxes on the 20th with a headlining act by Vishal and Shekhar, prior to which the evening will feature Bayang Barrios at Ang Naliyagan from the Philippines, Riau Rhythm from Indonesia, Raghav Meattle from India and Myanmar’s MRTV Modern Music band.
